This new medical centre has been designed to replace the existing Ongar War Memorial Hospital which currently stands on the site. The new building will accommodate two GP surgeries, a dental practice and several primary care services, such as physiotherapy and podiatry..
An important element of the design was incorporating materials and memorial stones from the existing building. Reclaimed bricks and the display of the original memorial stone are both incorporated into the new design to act as a new war memorial, constructed from Irish blue limestone with the names of fallen soldiers carefully engraved onto each stone.
Internally spaces are designed around a central courtyard to maximise natural daylight and views, creating a modern and uplifting new facility.
